Back-to-School Healthy Breakfast Ideas for Kids | Parents

Like all moms, Rosie Pope wants her kids to
eat a healthy breakfast. Studies show that kids who eat well in the morning do better
in school and have more energy and focus through the day. Here are a few tips to help your
family get a healthy start. Make sure that protein is on the menu. Eggs like in this
frittata, nut butters, milk, yogurt or seeds like chia are great options. Choose whole
grains instead of sugary cereals. The overnight oatmeal and quinoa recipe we developed for
Rosie’s family comes together in five minutes. Simply sweeten it with a little maple syrup
and top with fruit and milk. Speaking of fruit, it’s a natural for breakfast. Fresh or frozen
or nestled in a bran muffin, fruit is packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber, not to
mention, a sweet taste. To make sure your kids have enough time to eat and you have
enough time to get ready, prep ahead as much as possible. Breakfast buyers are a smart
make- ahead option. Breakfast doesn’t need to be a big production. But with these simple
strategies, it can be a great way to kick off a happy, healthy day.

  1. Love all these tips! We hear from parents all the time that mornings can be the most stressful time of day (and we feel it, too!). We love make-ahead options like overnight oats. It's nice to see that Rosie needs her cup of coffee in the morning, too! Thanks for the great video.
