Hey everybody, it’s Doctor Jo and Brian. For
another episode of Make It! Taste It! Rate It! Guess what? It’s early, and I need something
good to eat. You know what we should have? What should we have? Sausage and Gravy Breakfast
Casserole. Ohh, that sounds yummy. It does sound yummy. The recipe today comes to us
from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom. And here’s what it’s supposed to look like. I’m
ready, let’s do it. Me hungry! Early in the morning. Alright, so what you do is you start
off with a 13×9 pan that has been greased. Greased up. And then you take Grands biscuit
dough, that you get in a little tube thing. Be careful when you pop it, it’s always scary.
It’s like the adult version of a jack in the box. That’s why we did it before so you wouldn’t
see us go “Ahhh” Didn’t what you to see us cry. And then what you do is you cut the dough
into 1 inch strips, and you line the bottom of the pan with those 1 inch strips. So next
what we’re going to do is we’re going to put down the sausage of the sausage and gravy
casserole. Yay, sausage! So what you’ve done is you’ve browned off a 1 pound tube, or package.
Howe3ver you get your sausage. Maybe it came directly off of the pig. It did. Then you
have a cup of cheddar cheese. And you’re gonna take that and you’re gonna sprinkle that down
over it. So then next you’re gonna take 6 eggs and you’re gonna add to that half a cup
of milk. You’re gonna mix that together. And then to taste, you’re gonna add salt and pepper.
So we just did a 1/4 teaspoon of each, salt and pepper, we figured because there’s already
a lot of salt and pepper going on this. In the gravy. All those egg yolks mixed up? They
are. Alright well if they’re all broken up, then let’s pour that down over it. Let’s do
it, let’s do it. Alright. So you’ve been preheating your oven to 350 degrees, that’s what the
casserole is gonna cook at. And it’s gonna cook for about 30-35 minutes. Yeah, 30-35
minutes. You want to make sure the eggs are nice and set and the biscuits are also cooked
through. You don’t want to have any gooey biscuits in there. Yum. And then the final
step is you take gravy. Pepper gravy. Southern style for us. And you can buy it in the spice
section in a little packet, so you’ve got your pre-made gravy all you do is you add
some milk to it and then heat it up. Whoooo! HOT, HOT, It’s HOT, Brian. It’s hot on the
bottom. That’s probably what that towel is for. That’s why I put the little towel there.
That’s right. And then the last step is you pour that down all over the top of that nice
and good. And then it’s gonna go into that preheated oven. Ta Dah! Here it is. It is.
We cooked it for about 30-45 minutes, probably closer to what 35? It was about 35. And we’re
ready to taste it. And it smells so good. Side by side. There’s ours on the left. Scattered
Thoughts of a Crafty Mom on the right. Did you get everything? Biscuits Gravy and cheese?
Here we go. Did you burn yourself? Mmm that’s delicious. Mmm Mmm. It is good! That’s really
good. That’s like southern home cooking of breakfast all wound up in one. Very, very
good. So time to rate it. Let’s rate it. How many southern grannies in a kitchen cooking?
All of them! 5 out of 5 southern grannies! 5 out of 5 southern grannies. I would have
this for breakfast every morning if I could. But I probably shouldn’t. So if you’d like
the recipe, we have a link in the description to Scattered THoughts of a Crafty Mom’s website.
